September 1, 2021 (Boyds, MD) - Maryland Bobcats FC confirm the transfer of Nico Brown to Greenville Triumph Soccer for an undisclosed transfer fee, pending league and federation approval. Brown was a member of the first professional team in Bobcats history as the club kicked off in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) in Spring 2021.

“We are sorry to see Nico leave, but we’ve always said that we want to be a stepping stone in players’ careers. Nico was a great guy to have in the locker room and is a testament to the talent that can be found in Maryland and the DMV” MBFC Vice President Evan Raimist said. “We know Nico will be successful in Greenville and want to thank the Triumph for working with myself and the club to get a deal done.”

Brown, on his time with the Bobcats: “Being on the Bobcats during the Spring and beginning of the Fall NISA season was a good opportunity for me personally to make my professional debut and improve. I am very grateful for my opportunity at the Bobcats and I wish them the best of luck in the future!”

Brown, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, goes to the Triumph after spending the last 6 months with the Bobcats. He started two of the Bobcats' first three matches of their 2021 Fall season, playing all 90 minutes in both appearances. Brown also registered 208 minutes and one goal during the Spring Legends Cup. He played his collegiate soccer here in Maryland at Loyola (MD) from 2016 to 2019, and was selected to All-Patriot League teams in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Brown spent time in the DC United Academy system before committing to Loyola. He holds dual citizenship with the United States and Jamaica, and made multiple appearances as a member of the U17 Jamaican National Team.

Maryland Bobcats FC want to thank Nico for his time at the club and forever etching his name in club history as a member of our first ever professional roster. We wish Nico nothing but the best moving forward.
