MBFC Bringing Back 12 Players for 2022

January 7, 2021 (Boyds, MD) - The Maryland Bobcats Football Club today announced a group of 12 players as the returnees to the club for the 2022 season.

These roster moves indicate a good deal of roster continuity as the club enters its second professional season.

The returning list of players is highlighted by last years captains Kay Banjo and Alex Kao, while keeping key players James "Pele" Sesay, Richard Forka, and Josselin Possian.

Goalkeeper Christian Caulker returns for his second season in Maryland, and is joined by defenders Davey Mason, Yaya Fane, and Trey Cooper. Fane was one of the leaders in minutes played for the Bobcats in 2021.

The returning group is rounded out by Bryan Argueta, Pilawe Pato, and Andy Alvarado. The group of returning players will provide a solid core of talent heading into 2022, with the new additions to be announced later.

New Head Coach Sylvain Rastello had his hand in selecting some of the returning players and was able to grab talent from the club's Invitational Combine that he ran.

"The players we are bringing back represent a solid core from 2021 and we are really happy to have them back for Year 2," said Club Vice President Evan Raimist. "Having guys that went through Year 1 with us, played good minutes, and proved they could play at this level is huge as they have the Bobcat mentality and culture in them already. These guys, combined with the great new crop of talent we've added, should give us a really solid team. There are going to be battles all over the field for starting spots, and that's how we want it. With Coach Rastello at the helm, we're excited to get 2022 started."

The remaining players will be announced over the next month.
