MBFC Announce 3 New Signings to 2022 Roster

Alejandro Arbelaez, Felix Annan, and Drew Wivell added to 2022 roster

January 19, 2022 (Boyds, MD) - Maryland Bobcats FC are happy to announce 3 more members of our 2022 National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) roster.

Alejandro Arbelaez

Born in Bogota, Columbia but raised in Cockeysville, Maryland, Arbelaez had an all-Maryland development. Starting with Fewster FC for his youth career, he player for Archbishop Curley High School and Baltimore Celtic - where he won a USYS National Championship in 2018 - he then moved on to play at UMBC like so many players that have come through MBFC. While in college he played with both Christos FC and FC Baltimore. Most recently, he's played for the Baltimore Blast right here in Maryland.

 

 

Felix Annan

Coming to MBFC by way of Ghana, Annan graduated from Feyenoord Academy (now renamed WAFA SC). He signed for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club in 2011 at age 16 and had been with them for the last 10 years.

With Asante Kotoko, Annan was the captain for the team the last 3 years until leaving the club after last season cementing himself as a club legend. He has played for all levels of the National Team in Ghana except for the U-17 and was named to the final Senior National Team (the Black Stars) for the African Cup of Nations 2019 In Egypt. 

Annan was able to help bring a lot of trophies to Asante Kotoko, including multiple League Championships, FA Cups, and was named the 2019 Best Goalkeeper at the Ghana Football Awards, was a Best Home-based Player nominee in 2019 at the Ghana Football Awards, and was a Best Male Athlete nominee for the 2019 Ghana SWAG Football Awards, among many others.

 

Drew Wivell

From Gettysburg, PA, Drew is another success story from our Reserve Team, earning a contract after a successful 2021 showing the staff what he can do on the field and his dedication off of it.

Wivell went to and played at Gettysburg Area High School, where during his senior year he helped the team to state semi fina and was named to the York Adam’s All-Conference first team.

From there, Wivell attended Ohio Wesleyan University from 2017-2019, ended with 6 goals and 3 assists, and started 30 of 39 games during his freshman and sophomore year. He also played with the DC United U23 team while In college.

His professional experience started with Loudoun United, where he spent time during 2020, but due to COVID restrictions was not able to stay with the team. Drew joined us here on the Bobcats Reserve team in 2021 and has now earned a contract with the First Team. He also is an Assistant Coach in the MBFC Youth program.

 

All 3 are pending league and USSF approval.
